This is common when it comes to art or to certain kinds of technology, but rare when it comes to books. But here’s an exception: James Anderson’s What’s Your Worldview? employs a unique form to address a common function, making this an unusual and unusually creative work.”

The Republic of Fear, David Brooks, NYTimes. This is an eye-opening look into the International Justice Mission, a Christian organization that works internationally to rescue victims of human rights abuse. As Brooks points out, many of the problems in the developing world can’t be solved by economic policies alone. We need organizations like this to bring justice to the oppressed.
How to Memorize Entire Books of the Bible, Jemar Tisby. Tisby takes the uber-helpful framework from Andy Davis (which I heartily commend from my own practice) and offers a few reflections from his own experience. To Tisby’s reflections, I might add, though it should be obvious: when it comes to memorizing, not all books are created equal. It’s better to follow through on a smaller book than to run aground pursuing a big one. So if you plan to eventually memorize Matthew—challenging, but not impossible by any stretch—you might benefit by starting with Philippians. Never underestimate the power of momentum!
What If a Counselee Is Attracted to Me? David Powlison. Wise insight here from a seasoned counselor. Powlison’s response, though applied specifically to counseling, is equally relevant for pastors.
To All the Girls Who Didn’t Say No, Kimerley Suchta. “So to all you girls who didn’t say no, who have heard the messages out there on saving yourself for marriage, and staying pure, and you feel like you just want to run because you have already crossed the line…and you feel marked…and you think there is no turning back…let me speak this truth to you: Jesus does NOT condemn you. He came to rescue you and restore you, and he will meet you right in the middle of your mess.”
