A Proud Man and a Suffering Girl

Have you ever wondered what God is doing when you can’t sense him working? You look at your life and think, “God, there is no possible way you’re in control—not with this going on!” If we’re honest, we’ve all been there. Suffering has a way of revealing questions that, many times, we didn’t even know were lurking.

Our God is able to take what feels like an accidental, chaotic mess and transform it into a beautiful work of art. And few stories in Scripture show that more vividly than my favorite Old Testament story:
